Relationality: How Moving from Transactional to

Transformational Relationships Can Reshape Our Lonely World

This book is a call-to-action for a

world that desperately needs reconnection.

Relationality posits that most of our institutions, from tech giants

to educational systems, have inadvertently manufactured an

epidemic of loneliness. David Jay contends that by transitioning

from transactional to transformational relationships, we have a

chance to remedy societal issues from racial equity to climate

resilience.

David Jay brings a lifetime of experience building fulfilling relationships that drive

social change. At 18, David founded AVEN—the world’s first large online community of people identifying on the asexual spectrum. He has since gone on to play a leading role in the movement to reform social media. Through this work, David came to appreciate how the work of forming relationships is both a powerful tool for social change and invisible to many of our most powerful institutions.
